Beabop is the younger full brother of Beetle (sold to Will Coulton for polo), and the second foal out of Bea. Beabop was broken in by Rob Frewin, Quirindi, in late 2011. He went well and was turned out for most of 2012 with the odd few weeks riding here and there. He came back in for general riding work again in 2013. Unfortunately we didn’t get any polo or young horse chukkas under this age group in 2013 but they had a good session of arena work, long ride outs, mustering and a bit of stick and ball.
Throughout 2014, and early 2015, Beabop and his age group came into work several times for weeks at a time. Besides stick and balling and further schooling, they all did a few weeks work droving cattle on the road during the drought.
In July 2015, Beabop, and 6 others in his age group were sent to Gys Boonzaaier for several weeks of chukkas and polo on the Northern NSW circuit. Gys described him as a horse that really tried his heart out and was so honest, but just too heavily built to have the athleticism required for polo.
When the decision was made to put him on the market, he sold almost immediately to Michael Clarke of Bellingen, NSW. Beabop and Michael will mostly be involved in adult leisure and riding clubs, beach rides and working equitation. Beabop should most certainly excel in all of this due to his level headedness, his have a go attitude and education.

Beetle was the first foal out of Robert’s great mare Bea, who played in the 2001 World Cup at Werribee, Vic. He is a nice type of gelding who has matured well in both body and playing attitude. He really enjoys the game and we feel that he has the potential to play higher goal polo. He has a nice stop and turn as well as the ability to cover the ground quickly.
Both James and Robert both played Beetle with enjoyment during his first two years of polo. He was probably a favourite of James’ coming through from the young stock of his era. In 2012, he played his novice year and at Goondiwindi he was a part of Robert’s C Grade Champion Team of Ponies. By the middle of the 2014 season he was in James' main string playing A Grade.
At the end of our 2014 season, Beetle was sold to Will Coulton, North Star, to join his polo string. Lovely to know he has returned to his ‘birthplace’!!

Dakar’s history with us shares a similar program to his older full brother, Disco. He was mainly played by both James and Robert on the Northern NSW circuit. He’s not quite as heavy as Disco, but he is also a big solid gelding that’s just so straight forward, kind and simple to play. Once again, he is a bit slow on the flat speed, but is super easy to stop, turn and certainly agile enough for the lower grades. In his novice year, he was a part of Robert’s C Grade Champion Team of Ponies at Goondiwindi.
The following year he was sold to George Fraser of Scone Polo Club where he proved to be a really great addition to his string. He was also played by women when George wasn’t playing him.
When George gave up polo, Dakar was sold on to Edward Hoddle, Sydney (formerly of Gunnedah, NSW), primarily as a hunting horse. So far, they’ve had a fantastic time together with the Scone Hunt Club, as Dakar has taken to the sport with the same great attitude he had for polo and anything else he does. Ironically, a few months after Edward purchased Dakar for hunting, he lent him to Andrew Campbell to play at the Gunnedah Polo Tournament where he won Champion C Grade pony, 2015!

Disco played polo under Robert and James, as well as Dick Doolin on a couple of occasions, on the Northern NSW polo circuit. He is a straight forward gelding, with not the fastest flat speed due to his heaviness, but he is tough in the ride offs and easy to play. Despite his size, Disco has a great ability to stop, turn and take off the mark…..much to the surprise of some people when they ride him for the first time.
Like many of this breed, he is a great ‘school master’ style of playing horse, which perfectly suited the need of new owners, David and Kim Coulton, for their sons, Tom, Andrew and Sam, as they started playing the game.

Barista is the younger full brother of our A String playing gelding, Bomba. We have also retained two full sisters, Bombalina and Bolivia. Another full sister, Bonita successfully played polocrosse at all levels.
If Barista was born a filly, we would’ve kept him as he is a lovely type of gelding with an amazing temperament. He was probably the pick of the geldings out of his age group and it was no surprise that he sold first. We believe he would’ve made a great polo or polocrosse horse, but he’s found his calling down near Goulbourn as a leisure/trail riding/stock horse. We continue to receive many great reports and photos back from his new owners who just adore him.

Dior is the younger full sister to Dakar and Disco. We had intended to retain her, but as an experimental exercise we put her through the ASH Fountain of Youth sale as a yearling with several others her age. Dior sold to a Andrew and Sally White of Guyra with the intention to play polocrosse (as well as stock work on their Angus stud). She was broken in the following year after the sale. I’m yet to hear back on her polocrosse introduction, but last I spoke with Sally, she loves her as she’s just so quiet and sensible. Unfortunately, Dior was the only surviving mare out of Diva, so it looked like this was the end of our D Family line through Diva, but we have sinced purchased back the mare, Dia, who is directly out of Daylight and by Nabinabah Rockafella, and so hopefully the line will continue.

Fine Rock was sold to Greg Read, down in the ACT, as a yearling colt. Greg bought him with the intention to use him as a future ASH sire in his own stud program. Basically, Fine Rock’s pedigree, particularly the inclusion of Rockafella’s, was what caught Greg’s attention, and after seeing the videos and photos he bought him and broke him in himself. He is an extremely quiet and sensible type of horse, coming straight from his dam’s genes. Greg broke him in straight away and is very happy with him in every aspect. He’s played some polo and has also been used in his breeding program.
Quote from Greg: “coolest horse I’ve owned”.

Sirocco is the older full sibling of Smartie, and younger of Sumo. Like his brothers, he had all the ability in his blood and showed that, but he was just too big and heavy for what we want for polo. James played him for a season in the lower grades and then we decided to sell him on to a more suitable career. He was sold to Stephen Porges, Orange NSW, as a station/leisure horse, where he has proven to be a reliable straight forward mount for him. We have retained his very well performed full sister, Sizzel, who was in our A String of playing ponies and now breeding.

Sumo (Scruples/Rockafella) played a season of polo before we decided to sell him on due to the exact same reason of being too heavy like his full brothers, Sirocco and Smartie. He was sold to Andrew Hardie of central QLD as a station horse. Also purchased at the time was his stablemate, Bellboy (Big Bird/Rockafella), who was an very athletic gelding but too tall for what we wanted for polo. He is a full brother to Blitz, Bellbird, Breeze and Backchat.

Savvy is the full brother to 4 of our lovely mares, Sophia, Serene, Sahara and Siren. If he were a mare, himself, he possibly would’ve been retained, even perhaps instead of a sibling as he was actually smaller than his sisters and very agile. He was a lovely gelding to play – always so easy and light, and always played in a snaffle. Savvy was played by Robert, James and Dick Doolin over 2 or 3 years before we sold him to Rajiv Louis, Jakarta, Indonesia. He was joined with his stablemates, Boag and Bowie and we’ve had several positive reports on all of their performances, particularly Savvy’s.

Bowie is the full brother to our lovely mare Bacall and another youngster, Bardot. He was a soft easy gelding that could’ve played any grade. His playing history is very similar to Savvy, (above) and was also sold to Rajiv Louis, Jakarta, Indonesia to join his polo string. He has been going very well on all reports.

Boag was sold to Jakarta with Savvy and Bowie (see above). His history of playing was very similar up to the date of sale. He was a medium paced nice type of gelding that would’ve suited patron to medium goal playing. We have retained a full sister to Boag, Bublette, who is coming along very nicely.

Smartie is a lovely type of gelding with an intelligence that suited his name. He was broken in by Rob Frewin at 2 years old and due to his size we decided to put him into a discipline other than polo. He spent the next 4 months working with Emma Cudmore establishing flat work and competing at various show jumping competitions where he placed at his first event. Emma spoke highly of his temperament and ‘have a go’ attitude – he loved to keep his brain working. Smartie was sold as a 3 year old with his stable mate of the same age, Fudge, to a great horse loving home at Dorrigo where they are both used as all rounders/leisure horses.

Born just over a week after Smartie, Fudge’s early days with us were basically the same. He was broken in by Rob Frewin and due to his size we decided to send him to Emma Cudmore for flat work and show jump training. Like Smartie, Emma spoke highly of Fudge and thought he was a pleasure to work with. He went well in his competitions and had a ‘I’ll do whatever you ask’ attitude. At 3 years old, Fudge went with Smartie to a great home at Dorrigo for leisure/adult riding club.

Jaffa is the full brother to James' top mare, Jade. He showed great potential at a very early age and was sold as a five year old through Lance Shepherd into Queensland to join Mike King's string. He played many years in Qld and when the Mike retired from polo he was offered to Indie Bennetto. He had been off the field for a few years, but when we saw her brother, Jack, playing him at Scone in September 2015 it was like he'd never left the game. He is a good honest gelding that just does everything and very cool about it all – we were very happy to see him out on the field doing what he does best after loosing contact with his whereabouts for a few years.
