Kirkbys Stud Cheers, bred by Phillip Kirkby, Narrabri, is by the famous ASH stud book impact sire, WARRENBRI OMEGA and out the great stud impact mare KIRKBYS TONIC.  She is a ¾ sister to KIRKBYS STUD REMEDY.

Cheers had a very successful led, working, challenge and campdraft career at both Royal and National levels in her younger years with her then owner, Peter Allan of Emu Creek, QLD. Her record includes winning Champion Working ASH at the 2002 Chinchilla Branch Futurity, the Working class at the QLD State Show and placing in the mare classes at the 2005 National Championships in Albury, NSW.

With her super athleticism, kind temperament and breeding in the purple, we thought she would be a very valuable asset to our broodmare program. Cheers produced some lovely foals for both Peter Allan and her next owners, Sam and Rachael Amey, of Asar Stockhorse Stud, Gundaroo, NSW. She has progeny very well performed in led, ridden, working challenges at all levels. The two most notable at this particular time would be Stockhaven Ballerina (Peter’s), placing at National Championships, and the young but already successfully performed colt, Asar Direction (Sam and Rachael’s). We purchased Cheers in late 2013 from Sam and Rachael, but unfortunately lost her foal prematurely in 2014.

In 2015, we were lucky to strike 3 beautiful fillies out of Cheers. Two were born through embryo transfer programs. One was by open campdraft stallion, Gilgannon Onyx (Lindsay/Gilgannon Seagull. SOD: Elliots Creek Cadet) of Asar Stockhorses. The second was to the very well performed and local young stallion Palmers El Condo (Hazelwood Conman/Palmers Breezellie. DOD: Nabinabah Breezette) of Mark and Debbie Palmer, Quirindi NSW. Her third filly was born naturally and by our own Nabinabah Rockafella.

A bit about Kirkbys Stud Cheers lineage:

  • SIRE: WARRENBRI OMEGA –IS LH (V BAR N BONNET – IM LH / WARRENBRI ROMEO – IS HSH) – won the Warwick Gold Cup and in another successful attempt was runner up. He was the winner of approximately 60 open campdrafts before injury forced early retirement. He was also two time champion working horse at Sydney Royal. Omega was awarded ACA sire of the year 5 times. His campdraft winning progeny are far too numerous to mention, but they also have been exceptional in other fields such as polocrosse, working classes and challenges.

  • DAM: KIRKBYS TONIC – IM HSH. (RYANS FOUR EX – FM / QUIDONG BRIGADIER – IS ) goes back to ABBEY – FS and RED RAY – FS on her maternal side and ELLIOTS CREEK CADET – FS and STANTON STUD JAN – FM and Chan on her paternal side. She is the dam of notable Impact Sire KIRKBYS STUD REMEDY – IS HSH, plus 7 other foals in the ASH stud book.Tonic was an attractive all-rounder type mare that became Sue Kirkby’s favourite horse to compete. Together, they were very successful in Led, Hack and Working classes. One notable win was Champion Led Mare and Champion Ridden ASH at Melbourne Royal in 1988. She also won a Maiden and two Open campdrafts with Glen Gough, who also had her performing liberty displays and ‘tricks’ at local shows. In her later years, she also proved to be a great pony club mount – a testament to her lovely nature which has obviously passed down to KS Cheers.
