Bomba carries some strong similarities to his dam, Batiste. He was born to play polo and from breaking in through early training it was obvious he was going to be a high performance polo pony.
As a novice he moved straight up into Robert’s A-Grade string and whilst he was given the opportunity to develop he took everything in his stride and stepped up to the plate when he had to.
In 2009 he was part of the Champion Team of Ponies at North Star and has often been an integral part of winning various games and tournaments on the Northern NSW circuit. In 2010, Robert played him to win the A Grade at the Tamarang tournament and the Northern Challenge Cup, Quirindi plus runners up at the Gunnedah tournament. James then played him at Ellerston low goal, Nick Benson at Scone and Dick Doolin also played him this same year at the Windsor Tournament.
In 2012, Bomba was one of four horses (including his full sister-in blood, Blitz), all by Nabinabah Rockafella, lent to Dick Doolin for the autumn high goal season. Dick played him at Ellerston and the Dudley Cup tournament plus various others in the Hawkesbury region.
Bomba is not for the faint hearted; he is electric and covers the ground quickly. He suits only experienced horsemen/women as he can change the direction of his lead in a split, spin on a dime and accelerate from a standstill faster than many riders anticipate. He knows the game, and thinks quickly. He shines particularly in the tougher and faster games as he is quite a ‘busy’ horse on the field.

Breeze is the younger full sister to both Blitz and Bellbird. She has proven to be another great mare out of Bigbird who thrives in the tougher and faster games. She is an athletic mare who covers the ground quickly.
Breeze has been mainly played by Robert during the majority of her career. James tried her a few years ago at Ellerston low goal but didn’t get along with her – in hindsight the game was probably too slow and choppy for a mare like this. In 2013, James started playing her again and to his surprise he loved her and she has since kept her spot firm in his A Grade string – the difference between now and earlier days could be attributed to Breeze’s increased easiness to play as she matured, but perhaps more so to James’ polo improving to a level that he enjoys an athlete like Breeze and gets a lot more out of a horse like this than in earlier years.
Dick Doolin has also played Breeze on numerous occasions both on the Northern NSW circuit and in the Hawkesbury. Under all three men, she has helped take them to many A and B grade finals over the past 4 years.

Bacall is the type of mare we love in both looks and ability. She is an absolute favourite of Roberts….hence, his nickname for her, “Special”! Bacall broke in like a dream and you could tell from her first ride she was going to be a top polo pony, or any sort of sporting horse. She is so soft and is always played in a snaffle or at the most the Dr Bristol small ring gag. She is the type of mare that can be played by men, women, professionals and patrons and no doubt, juniors.
Due to her extreme easiness as a youngster, we were very careful not to push her too hard too early as she is the type of mare you could easily do this with. In saying that, because of the adequate number of high level playing horses that Robert and James had in their A Grade string, Bacall was often kept down in the lower grades as she was just so easy and fun In all honesty, Bacall and a few others her age didn’t really start their polo career until later than most due to the amount of horses we had in work and the shortage on available 2nd games for Robert and James on the northern NSW circuit.
In 2011, Bacall played her novice season with a few games and then at Goondiwindi in 2012 she was a part of Robert’s Champion C Grade Team of Ponies.
At her first tournament of 2013, she had an accident at the truck and crushed her wither, putting her out for the rest of the year. She came back into James' second string in 2014 as she was a bit slow, but by the end of the season she made her way back up to his main team. By the end of 2015's season, she was neck and neck with Serene as James' best horse. She’s proven herself with her super easiness to play and her newfound speed. She is a delight to hit off as she flattens out so naturally.
I think very soon we will have to have the conversation about retaining her to stud as she is the epitome what we’re looking for in our mares. We hope that she will cross well with Haydon Zane perhaps gaining some further speed in the progeny.
Bacall has a younger sister, Bardot.

Bublette is the only filly out of Bubbles, so she will definitely be retained for stud after her polo career. Her older full brother, Boag, played under James on the Northern NSW circuit and was later exported to Jakarta, Indonesia, for polo and is doing well over there.
Bublette was broken in by Rob Frewin in early 2012 and had light work for the rest of that year and 2013. She came back into work in March 2014 to prepare for young horse chukkas and early 2015 spent time droving our cattle on the road.
In July 2015, Bublette, and 6 others in her age group, were sent to Gys Boonzaaier for several weeks of chukkas and polo on the Northern NSW circuit. She was Gys’ pick of the mares and showed enormous promise as a high goal pony.
Bublette is a lovely compact type of mare and shows the intelligence of the B Family. She is on the smaller side, compared to the others in her age group, but has developed into a good size for polo.

Bombalina is the full sister to Bomba. Bomba played is high quality polo pony who’s played up to 20 goal polo under Dick Doolin. Bombalina was broken in by Rob Frewin in January 2014. He was very pleased with her – smart and athletic.
In July 2015, Bombalina, and 6 others in her age group, were sent to Gys Boonzaaier for several weeks of chukkas and polo on the Northern NSW circuit. Despite being a year younger and behind the others, she went exceptionally well for a rising 5 year old.
Bombalina has the potential to become a great polo mare. She has a younger full sister, Bolivia.

Backchat was a late foal in the season and the last of our wonderful broodmare, Bigbird (deceased) – dam of Blitz, Breeze and Bellbird – all great polo mares. Backchat was broken in by Rob Frewin in January 2014, where he instantly showed signs of following his big sisters’ footstep.
In July 2015, Backchat, and 6 others in his age group, were sent to Gys Boonzaaier for several weeks of chukkas and polo on the Northern NSW circuit. Being a year younger than most of the others, he started off a bit greener but it didn’t take long at all with Gys for him to catch up.
He is a lovely type of gelding with a great attitude. He should develop into a perfect polo athlete with his conformation and ability.
