D Family Broodmares

Barninedot DIVA – HSH (191043)

DOB: 11/05/1995

Colour: Chestnut

Height: 14.3hh

Sire: WALLAROI SMOKEY PADRE – HSH

Dam: HAYDON DAYLIGHT – HSH

Diva was the only filly bred by Smokey Padre out of Haydon Daylight.  She is a small compact mare who played tough polo under both Robert and NZ’s Jonny Coddington.  Jonny played her in her first season in 2000 on the Northern NSW circuit where she won Champion Novice Pony at Goondiwindi.

Diva’s full brother, Dart, is a lovely gelding who excelled as a school master polo pony.  Both James and his brother, Michael, played Dart in their first few seasons of polo taking them both from -2 to 0 in 2 years.

Diva’s progeny have mainly found polo and polocrosse homes.  Both geldings by Nabinabah Rockafella, Disco and Dakar, are going well as B to C grade polo ponies; they are big boys and not as fast as some, but they are kind, straight forward and honest; perfect for starting out or for enjoying the lower grades.

Diva has permanently retired from breeding after unsuccessful attempts to join with Haydon Zane.

Progeny:

  • Disco (gelding)
    • Sold for polo to Kim and David Coulton & family, Goondiwindi.
  • Dakar (gelding)
    • Sold for polo to George Fraser, Scone.
  • Miss Dior (mare)
    • Sold for polocrosse to Andrew and Sally White, Guyra.

Barninedot DIA- HSH

DOB: 22/09/2001

Colour: Bay

Height: 15.2hh

Sire: NABINABAH ROCKAFELLA – HSH

Dam: HAYDON DAYLIGHT – HSH

Dia was the only foal out of Daylight by Rockafella before Daylight died.  Dia was broken in by Todd Edwards, showing immense promise.  We sold Dia as a two year old to national polocrosse player, Andrew Rose, of Narromine, NSW.  She went on to have some great years of competition with Andrew, picking up numerous awards together.  Dia was then sold on to a young female player in the Northern Territory, Chelsea Golder.  Chelsea and Dia made the NT under 21 mixed team to play at Nationals at Warwick, QLD.

Due to change of her circumstances, Chelsea was forced to give up polocrosse and we were lucky enough to hear of Dia being offered for sale again.  I quickly jumped on this opportunity and we are all thrilled to have Dia back with us to continue on the D family bloodlines.  We believe she is an important female line for our stud and yet we were so close to losing this 'Daylight' breed.  She will be joined with Haydon Zane in 2015.
