Jade is the only horse we have retained out of Jellybean, who is a full sister to Jitter and Jay. Jellybean, herself, did not play polo, but rather spent most of her riding days on the road droving. It wasn’t until we knew how good Jitter and Jay were that we decided to breed from Jellybean. Jade’s older full brother, Jaffa, was sold as a 3 year old to play polo with Lance Shepherd. He had successful polo career in Qld as was described by Lance as a handy good honest gelding. In 2015, he was taken on by the Bennetto family.
Jade is in James’ A string and he often plays her in the first chukka. She is incredibly handy and soft. What she may lack in her flat speed, she makes up for in her stop, turn and take-off. She would have to be one of the best we’ve had at that. James says that not too many horses can beat her in the short play which makes her very handy in the lineouts and high traffic moments.
She has a funny personality – a typical mare and a bit quirky at times. I think this resonates on the field at times but she takes her polo seriously and enjoys the game. I don’t think James has ever come off the field and said he didn’t enjoy her chukka. She will hopefully make a good candidate to carry on our J family bloodline when she retires.

Jive is the first foal out of Jitter. Jive was broken in by Rob Frewin in late 2011 and was one of the more athletic and easier young ones of his year. Like all the horses in this age group, Jive was only lightly worked in 2012 and 2013. He came back in for stick and balling and polo training in early 2014, ready for young horse chukkas. In early 2015, he spent time droving our cattle on the road.
In July 2015, Jive, and 6 others in his age group, was sent to Gys Boonzaaier for several weeks of chukkas and polo on the Northern NSW circuit. He instantly became one of the favourites and easiest out of the young ones in their novice season.
Jive is a nice type of gelding with a natural talent for polo. He’s soft, moves freely and neck reins very well. We expect this gelding to be a high quality polo pony.

Jasper was a lovely type of gelding with good looks and an athletic conformation. He had a divine personality and would've probably have suited a junior to teen rider in any sort of discipline. He hadn't proven himself on the polo field, but we suspected he was going to be fantastic at something or be a great all-rounder as he was well-educated, willing and very soft. He had played in some young horse chukkas at Scone and did miles of umpiring. He was going to play the 2014 season and we were thinking of keeping him for our own kids, but unfortunately his life was cut short due a paddock accident and he had to be put down. I wanted to include him on this web page, mainly just to remember him, as he was very special to all of us.
